Get started without a tag
Brio NFC is free, with no ads, in-app purchases, subscription or account registration. Open Write, find a use in the catalog and complete its guide. The 20 guides include WhatsApp, social networks, websites, phone, email, SMS, Maps, menus, files, text and coordinates. The six manual types remain available: text, URL, phone, email, SMS and location.
Check the preview, add the record and arrange the record order. Use Review and write to inspect the document before starting the operation. The editor and Library work offline; preparing content and saving a template do not require NFC hardware.
WhatsApp: phone number and message
On Android, check the suggested country and enter the number with its area code where applicable; the app adds the country calling code. Search 245 countries and territories or paste a full number starting with +. International mode requires the +. On iPhone, enter the complete international number. The app does not check whether an account exists. The message is optional and becomes part of the written link along with the phone number. Whoever opens the link decides whether to send it; Brio NFC only prepares the content.
Test the destination before writing
On Android, Test destination explicitly opens the prepared link in a compatible app. Phone links open the dialer without calling; messages open a composer without sending. Your draft is preserved before leaving. The destination may require internet, apps or an account and has its own data practices. There is no automatic network lookup, and the button does not read or write a tag.
Username or copied link?
Instagram, TikTok, X and Telegram accept a username, with or without @, or a full link. For Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Spotify, copy the profile, page or content link from the service and paste it into the guide. A display name cannot replace that link. Check the destination in the preview; local validation does not verify that an account or post exists. The app does not access social network accounts.
Menu, file or PDF
Paste a link that is already hosted and accessible to recipients. The tag stores only the URL; the app does not host, upload or embed the file. Opening the destination may require internet access, permission or a link that is still valid. The address does not have to end in .pdf.
Can I include several links?
You can arrange several records in a document. On iPhone, background tag reading considers only the first URI record (link); it does not create a destination menu. To bring destinations together, use an already published page containing your links and write its address. Opening depends on the device, operating system and installed apps; reading inside Brio NFC does not open links automatically.
Find and reuse templates
On Android, use Save to library in Write; on iOS, Save template; preserving a draft does not create a template in the Library. In the Library’s Templates view, search by name or filter favorites. Clearing filters does not remove templates or favorites. History stores only minimal result and time metadata, without record content, passwords or a persistent UID.
Import and export
NFC JSON document import and export between iPhone and Android are manual, using system file pickers and sharing mechanisms. Review the records before confirming or sharing. Importing creates a new template and preserves existing ones; an external identifier does not authorize replacing a template.
Exported files may contain personal information you entered. Check the content and recipient. Exporting a document does not include the full database, internal logs, UID or credentials from the NFC tools.
Review and write carefully
Review the content before writing. The flow checks the target, writable state and tag capacity, and asks for confirmation before replacing existing content. A write is shown as verified only after a real read-back and an ordered comparison of the records, including TNF, type, ID and payload. Initial tag discovery does not confirm a write.
The tag is not detected
Confirm that the phone has NFC and, on Android, that it is enabled. Start the operation inside the app and bring the tag near the antenna indicated by the manufacturer. Move other tags away and try without accessories that could interfere. A failure does not establish that the tag is empty, protected or incompatible.
The tag could not be written
Check the tag’s capacity and writable state. Support depends on the device, operating system, chip, configuration and operation; NFC availability does not guarantee every operation. The app cannot undo a permanent read-only lock.
The result is unconfirmed
If contact was lost or the operation was canceled after a change began, the tag may have changed. Explicitly read its content before deciding to try again. The app does not retry the mutation automatically or promise to undo it. Restarting the app or restoring a backup does not resume a pending write.
Copy and clear
Copying transfers only NDEF records. It does not duplicate a UID or physical identity, and does not clone access, payment or transit cards or their credentials. Clearing replaces compatible NDEF content; it does not erase all physical memory or remove protection.
Templates, drafts and backup
Templates and drafts stay on the device and may be included in the native system backup, according to your settings and iOS or Android services. This is not app-managed synchronization. Export documents to transfer content manually. Uninstalling without a backup or export may cause local data loss. Read the privacy policy for details.
Compatibility and specific operations
Compatibility depends on the device, operating system, chip, configuration and operation. The editor can work on devices without NFC; reading and writing require NFC hardware and a compatible NDEF tag. Having NFC does not guarantee support for every tag or operation.
Locking, password tools and Android formatting remain unavailable until each operation is qualified. iPhone does not offer generic NDEF formatting. Do not use a production tag to test an irreversible operation.
Does the tag image indicate a read?
The tag image on the initial Read screen is decorative and static. NFC availability and results appear in separate messages; the image does not indicate reading, connection or writing.
